Established in
1985, the Hollis Public Library was originally set up in an old U.S.
Forest Service cabin with no running water and only a wood stove for
heat. Materials were donated by local residents.
Today, the library is housed in a 1,300-square foot building and offers more
than 19,000 books and a variety of other audio, visual and electronic
media. Our library is well-loved by its Hollis residents, and is
available for community affairs. It is meeting place for Prince of
Wales Island residents.
The Hollis Public Library is completely volunteer-run and provides educational
material for the local school and residents.
